What to put on a FAQ page (with 30 example questions)

A good FAQ answers the questions people have before they decide. Not the questions you wish they'd ask. Here's how to pick them, and a list to start from.

Start with real questions

The best FAQ questions come from people. Look at:

If a question came up twice, it's a candidate. If it came up five times, it goes near the top.

No users yet? Think about what stops someone from signing up: price, trust, effort, and “will this work for me?”

Write answers the way you'd say them

Start with the answer, not the background. “Yes, you can cancel any time from Settings → Billing.” Then add a sentence or two of detail if it's needed.

Keep each answer short. If it needs steps or screenshots, write a help article and link to it from the FAQ. A FAQ that scrolls forever is hard to use. Here's when to switch.

Skip fake questions like “Why is [Product] the best choice?” Nobody asks that. Readers notice, and it makes the real answers look like ads too.

Where to put the FAQ

Pre-sale questions about price, trial and refunds work best on or near the pricing page, right where people decide. Questions about using the product belong in your help center, close to the articles. You don't need one giant FAQ for everything.

Keep it current

An old FAQ is worse than none. If your trial changes from 14 days to 7 and the FAQ still says 14, people feel tricked. When you change prices, plans or a main feature, check the FAQ the same day.

Quick rule: If you can't answer a question honestly in two or three sentences, it's either an article, or a sign that something in the product needs fixing.

On MVPKit, your help page can hold a short “Common questions” article next to your full help articles, with a contact form for anything the FAQ misses. Our own pricing page ends with a small FAQ, if you want an example.
